T-minus two days until Winter X Games Europe sparks off, but Tignes already feels like Aspen with a French accent. The base area of La Claret is dominated by the SuperPipe and Slopestyle venues, blue X-adorned banners are flying everywhere. Even if you can’t speak French, you can hear names like “Simon Dumont” and “Torah Bright” on the lips of locals and visitors alike.

This is far from a typical week in Tignes, and not simply because of the X invasion….

By now, you’ve seen the above video of Albe’s team rider Zack Gerber pedaling his bike on a treadmill, attempting a footjam and face planting into the treadmill, right? Well, in just one week’s time, the video received over 40,000 views on Vimeo, and its popularity continues to grow. How you might ask? Well, the clip ended up on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno. Last year was my very first trip to this neck of the woods in Northern B.C. Back then, TGR and a crew of Oakley athletes went to Bell 2, serviced by Last Frontier Heli another Canadian based heli ski operation. We heard about Ripley Creek through those guys on that trip, so we decided to leave behind the 5-star set up at Bell 2 this year in the hopes of exploring a new zone.

Stewart sits just on the edge of the southern-most part of the Alaskan panhandle, nestled right up to Hyder on the Coast…

I’m finally getting around to mentioning some news worthy happenings you need to know about.
